Shoppers line up for H&M Opening at St. Augustine Outlets

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla.- It's the news some shoppers have been waiting months for. The new H&M at St. Augustine Outlets opens for business Thursday at Noon.

The new store will carry H&M's line of mens and womens clothing, young ladies and young mens sections, plus "store within a store" sections for accessories, lingerie, cosmetics, maternity sports appparel, and their plus-sized line H&M+.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A proposed inn or hotel in St. Augustine appears to be dividing a neighborhood.

The St. Augustine City Commission is meeting Monday evening with plans to discuss the rezoning of the property where a man wants to create the inn.

It sits on the corner of Bridge and Cordova streets.

If you look around the neighborhood just south of downtown St. Augustine, the yards signs show the division. Some neighbors support something called a planned unit development (PUD), and others do not.

"The community gets along so well and all of a sudden it's contentious as to different viewpoints," said St. George Street resident Donna King-O'Loughlin said.

This PUD pertains to the former Dow Museum property.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A St. Augustine man was convicted Wednesday of burglarizing a home and stealing electronics and jewelry, authorities say.

Chase Todd Cameron, 33, was caught on a surveillance camera during the burglary and later confessed to taking some of the items, according to the State Attorney's Office for Florida's Seventh Judicial Circuit.

Camera was previously released from prison in May 2014 after serving two years for several prior grand theft convictions.

Cameron faces a maximum possible penalty of 20 years.

On Tuesday afternoon, county commissioners discussed ways to move forward with possibly growing the low-potency marijuana there. Parents enduring sleepless nights waiting for access to Charlotte's Web say they're tired and frustrated, and that immediate action needs to be taken.

Michelle Vinzant repairs and creates jewelry for a living. But she can't seem to fix what her 15-year-old daughter, Marley, struggles with daily.

ID=30493283 ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- St. Johns County voters will decide whether to raise their sales tax by a half-cent. Tuesday, county commissioners approved a measure to put the increase on a special elections ballot in November.

School leaders say they need the extra income to keep up with the growth in county schools.

"We are two schools behind and we have not even absorbed the growth coming in to us this summer, so about the middle of the year we'll be maybe four schools behind," said Bev Slough, chairman for the St. John's County School Board.

ST. AUGUSTINE — A man has been found dead inside a home on Cabbage Hammock Road in St. Augustine Tuesday morning after St. Johns County SWAT replied to a home there, authorities said.

SJCSO deputies were first called to respond to a sick person in a ditch near the home, but when they arrived they said they heard gunshots from a nearby home.

Deputies then called SWAT and established a perimeter.

SJCSO said that evidence at the scene made it appear that the man died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound, and that the man was home alone. Deputies stress the investigation is ongoing and say that the exact cause of the death is still being determined.

The neighborhood was evacuated as a precaution, SJCSO said.
