Education on First Coast Takes the Spotlight

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Two big events in education on the First Coast has St. Johns County enjoying a number one ranking and Duval County busy promoting the value of reading.

The Florida Department of Education is holding a news conference Monday morning to offer details on St. Johns County being named the top school district in the state.

Governor Rick Scott requested that all 67 school districts being ranked. 

St. Johns County schools have constantly ranked near the state on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test.

In Duval County, literacy is the big push this week as the state touts literacy.

Locally the" Read It Forward Jax" campaign will feature reading events at eleven Chick-fil-A locations with  Family Reading Night starting at 4:30 p.m.

Chikck-fil-A will donate part of the proceeds to the reading campaign.
