Jacksonville Police Officers Angry Over New Rule | News

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- Another move to save Jacksonville money is drawing fire from the police union.
Jacksonville's Sheriff, John Rutherford, says effective immediately officers who live 10 miles past the Duval County line will have to leave their police cars in a new location.
The new location is one that will require them to drive more miles in their own vehicles.
"It saves money," says Sheriff John Rutherford. "[It will] give us a more secure place to keep our vehicles."
FOP President Nelson Cuba says the new rule puts an extra burden on police officers.
"It will cost them more so this should have been negotiated under collective bargaining statutes," says Cuba.
But Rutherford says as a manager he has the right to make the change.
