Horror Zone Opens this Weekend

 

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Youth Services Unit is sponsoring the haunted house again this Halloween season. The 11th annual “Horror Zone” will take place once again at the former Mikee’s store, 2497 U.S. 1 South, in the Food Lion Shopping Center, Lewis Point Rd., and U.S. 1 South. The Horror Zone will be open beginning this weekend (Friday & Saturday) from 6:00-11:00 p.m.

The St. Johns County Cultural Events Division is proud to announce that legendary crooner Tony Bennett will appear at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in support of his recent #1 album, Duets II.

Nissan of St. Augustine Charity Golf Tournament Benefits the St. Johns County Education Foundation

 

Nissan of St. Augustine is teaming up with the St. Johns County Education Foundation (SJCEF) for a charity golf tournament of October 26, 2011. The tournament will take place in the World Golf Village at The King and the Bear. Registration and lunch starts at 11:30 A.M. and tee off is at 1 P.M. It is not too late to register, so sign up now!

“Nissan of St. Augustine is so excited to partner with the St. Johns County Education Foundation,” remarked Todd Birilis about the golf tournament, “We really hope everyone gets involved comes out on October 26 to play for a great cause!”

Individual players and foursomes are encouraged to register. There are also sponsorship opportunities on a number of levels. All proceeds of the tournament will benefit the SJCEF, who will use the funds to support schools, teachers and students in St. Johns County. Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore Raised $1.1 Million

 

The National Multiple Sclerosis Society, North Florida Chapter’s largest annual fundraiser, Bike MS: PGA TOUR Cycle to the Shore 25th Anniversary Ride that took place Oct. 1-2, 2011 was the largest fundraiser yet for the chapter, raising more than $1 million for research, programs and services for the 18,000 people affected by multiple sclerosis in the North Florida area. 

Bike MS is the National MS Society’s signature event and the single largest non-profit organized bike ride in the United States, including participants and funds raised.

This year, the North Florida Chapter raised more than $1.1 million for research, programs and services. In the past 25 years, Bike MS has raised more than $13 million in North Florida toward a world free of multiple sclerosis.

The ride began Saturday, October 1 at Northeast Florida Regional Airport (formerly the St. Augustine Airport) at 7:15 a.m. More than two thousand cyclists rode more than 150 miles from to the Hilton Daytona Beach and back. The route from St. Augustine to Daytona and back included fully-stocked rest stops, safety support, full meals, entertainment and a 25th Anniversary Ride After-party. More than a hundred volunteers helped set up and break down the ride in addition to helping at rest stops.

Cut-a-thon and Zombie Run Raise Awareness for St. Augustine Man Awaiting Kidney Transplant

 

 

Saturday, Oct. 15 from 5 to 7 p.m. 99.9 Gator Country will host the Kids Fitness Zombie Chase at the Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Area, 300 A Phillip Randolph Blvd. If registering before Oct. 14, the fee is $15. Children can also register the day of the race for $20. Registration to participate as a zombie is $10. Sunday, Oct. 16 from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Salon Calypso, 12276 San Jose Blvd in Jacksonville, will donate its proceeds to NFT in honor of Velazquez. For $25, patrons can get a shampoo and desginer cut. The Yogurt Co. located next door also will donate 25% of its proceeds to NFT in honor of Velazquez during that time. St. Augustine Humane Society to hold "Pawtini Hour" fundraiser on Oct. 13

 

The St. Augustine Humane Society will hold its First Annual Pawtini Hour fundraiser on Thursday, Oct. 13. The event will run from 6 pm until 8 pm at the Raintree Restaurant, 102 San Marco Ave. in St. Augustine. The non-profit has designed the event as a fun way to raise funds for its mission to prevent pet overpopulation with affordable spay neuter programs and to eliminate the relinquishment of pets to shelters.

The StAR Council and Art Breakers Recognizes Breast Cancer Awareness Month With An Annual Event

 

The St. Augustine Regional (StAR) Council will host “ BRATINI” on Thursday, October 27th, 2011 at the Serenata Beach Club, located at 3175 South Ponte Vedra Blvd., S. Ponte Vedra Beach, 32082 from 6 – 9 p.m. This event has been one of the most enjoyable fundraisers in St. Augustine and will probably be a sell-out once again.
