City Encourages Participation in "Teal Monday" Events, Offers Free Parking at Select Facilities

Mayor John Peyton has proclaimed Monday, Oct. 18, 2010 as “Teal Monday” in support of the Jacksonville Jaguars’ Monday Night Football game against divisional rivals, the Tennessee Titans. To create a fun environment for all to enjoy, the Jaguars and others will host festivities at various locations throughout downtown.

In addition to hosting an exciting football game that evening, the Jaguars will hold a special game-day experience for fans before kickoff.  Similar to the festivities held last season for the Dec. 17, 2009 game against the Indianapolis Colts, the pregame events will combine the enthusiasm of a pep rally with interactive activities for the whole family.

To encourage participation in the planned activities, select city-owned parking facilities will be free after 5 p.m. on Oct. 18 and will remain open until all customers have left. These facilities include:

  • Courthouse West Lot, 300 Courthouse Dr.
  • Water Street Garage, 541 Water St.
  • Yates Garage, 200 E. Adams St.
  • Forsyth Lot at Main and Forsyth streets.

Because the Monday Night Football event will unfold in front of a national television audience, Peyton’s “Teal Monday” proclamation urges Jaguars fans to fill EverBank Field to demonstrate their enthusiasm for this important divisional game and show the national audience how passionate fans are about the team. Peyton also encourages Jacksonville businesses to show their pride by displaying Jaguars colors and, if possible, allowing employees to leave early to gather their family and friends to enjoy the game-day festivities.

Free live entertainment, special deals and family-friendly activities will be taking place at the stadium before the game and all Jaguars supporters, ticket holders or not, are invited to be a part of the fun. In addition, many downtown establishments will be offering “teal” specials that evening. For more information on the activities and specials, visit

Those attending the game are encouraged to show their support for the team by wearing the color teal.  Tickets to the game are still available and can be purchased by calling (904) 633-2000 or at
