ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla -- A fire broke out this morning shortly after 11:00 a.m. at the First Coast Power Sports on US 1.
The St. Johns County Fire Rescue and the St. Augustine Fire Department found crates with motorcycles, jet skis and ATVs on fire in a storage area area behind the shop, which is near St. Augustine South just south of State Road 312 on US 1.
It took about 40 minutes to contain the blaze and hours afterward to complete salvage and investigation work, Jeremy Robshaw of the St. Johns County Fire Rescue said. Additional personnel that came on the scene began defending homes in the neighborhood just behind the business.
The cause of the fire is under investigation by the State Fire Marshal's Office and the St. Johns Fire and Rescue Department, and the damage to the business is unknown.
A home right behind the business sustained minor exterior heat damage and one boat in a yard of a nearby home sustained fire damage, Robshaw said. No other structures, including Ace Firearms, an ammunition store next door, were impacted.
No injuries have been reported, and one home was evacuated.
