ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A woman at the wheel of a car that rear-ended a patrol car in St. Augustine has been arrested by police on suspicion of drunken driving.
The crash happened on A1A Beach Blvd. in St. Augustine around 2 a.m.
According to investigators at the scene, the woman's mother, apparently concerned about her daughter's welfare, called the St. Johns County Sheriff's office for help. The SJSO turned to the St. Augustine Police Department for assistance. Shortly after a BOLO report went out, a police officer saw a woman driving at a high rate of speed down the road.
The officer turned around to catch up to the driver.
The driver turned a corner and slammed into the back of another patrol car near Santander Street, just outside of Anastasia State Park.
