ST AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Dark clouds punctuated by light rain and early morning downpours ushered in a nor'easter that is expected to bring several inches of rain and gusty winds to the First Coast.

Early this morning St. Augustine experienced periods of heavy rain.  Tourists toted umbrellas and ocassionally had to use them.

"It was raining sideways," said Bill Trautmann, who watched the first downpour at Vilano Beach.

The Public Works Department in St. Augustine positioned barricades along streets in anticipation of minor street flooding and checked out storm drains.

Vidar Bye, who is from Norway, found the weather quite enjoyable.  "This is a very good summer day in Norway," he said, finding temperatures in the upper 70s and overcast skies to his liking.
