King Street Opens for Eastbound Traffic Today
Transportation

King Street between US 1 (Ponce de Leon Boulevard) and Malaga Street reopened to eastbound traffic Thursday afternoon, bringing the King Street drainage project closer to completion. While westbound traffic continued to flow along this section of King Street during the drainage improvement project, eastbound traffic was detoured a few blocks north of King Street to West Castillo Drive.

Final construction activities include replacing drainage grates and installing traffic sensors embedded in the pavement controlling the signal operation, requiring minor traffic disruptions.

The King Street drainage project began January 10 and is scheduled for completion by the end of April.  The upgraded drainage system is designed to help alleviate flooding that occurs along this section of King Street during heavy rains.
