College and Career Night

The school district’s annual College and Career Night will be held Wednesday, September 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Ponte Vedra High School gymnasium, located at 460 Davis Park Road.  All high school students and their parents are encouraged to attend.

Groundbreaking: Local School Introduces New Building

The Jacksonville Country Day School Board of Trustees and the Head of School, Terry Bartow, are proud to announce the upcoming Groundbreaking Celebration for a new multipurpose building: the Smith Center, named in honor of Dennis M. Smith, Jr., M.D., his wife Julie, and their daughter Morgan. The Groundbreaking Celebration will be held on August 26, 2011, at 8:30 a.m. in the Geraldine A. Kelly Fine Arts Center on the Jacksonville Country Day School campus.

Monday, August 22, 2011 St. Augustine Police Officers helped do their part in helping St. Johns County School Teachers. The St. Johns County Education Foundation holds their annual “Tools for Schools” drive to assist local teachers by providing them with school supplies.

Schools Open Next Week, Be Cautious of Children

St. Johns County Sheriff David Shoar is warning residents and visitors that with schools opening next week, drivers need to be cautious of children walking or riding to school or waiting at bus stops throughout the county.

Sheriff’s Office PSA’s and uniformed deputies will be dispatched to any areas where there may be traffic congestion in an effort to alleviate problems. In addition, deputies will be at school zones around the county to monitor those zones and to issue citations.

Florida's sales tax holiday starts Friday at one minute after midnight and lasts through Sunday.

The three-day back-to-school tax holiday eliminates state and local taxes on more than 130 items, including certain clothes, footwear and backpacks costing $75 or less.
