St. Augustine 7, Pensacola 3

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The St. Augustine Yellowjackets defeated the Pensacola Tigers 7-3, Friday night.

The Yellowjackets, who lost to the Tigers last year, snapped the reigning 3A State Champions' 26 game winning streak. St. Augustine will take on Jefferson High School next Friday in the 3A State Semifinals.

Pacetti Bay Volleyball Tryouts

Tryouts for the Pacetti Bay Volleyball team will be the week of December the 6th. Girls Tryouts will be held after school on Monday and Tuesday, December 6th and 7th, from 2 - 4 pm. Boys Tryouts will be held after school on Thursday and Friday, December 9th and 10th, from 2 - 4 pm. All students interested in trying out for the team must return a permission slip to Mrs. McLaughlin no later than December 3rd.

Panther Navy Qualifies for Regional Championships

In their first major competition of the year, the Nease High School Panther Navy NJROTC unit has qualified for the Regional Championships. Saturday, November 20th was a glorious, sunny and warm day at Orange Park High School.

Nease Cadets Georgia Bound

Nease's Junior ROTC program is a Navy sponsored program, but for one weekend, the cadets of Nease NJROTC learned about another branch of our military when they visited Dobbins Air Reserve Base in Atlanta, Georgia. While there, they toured the weather station and learned about security. Hands on experiences were a bonus. Other areas visited included Georgia Tech and The World of Coca-Cola. Captain Robert Young and Gunnery Sergeant Duane Hanson accompanied the 26 cadets as they all climbed to the top of Stone Mountain.

All American Games Present the got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition

Get your routines ready because here's something to cheer about! "got milk?" and the All American Games have teamed up for the 2010 got milk? U.S. Army All-American Cheer Teams Competition - a chance for two cheer squads from across America to show what you've got on the sidelines of the annual U.S. Army All-American Bowl on January 8, 2011.

To enter the competition, just upload a video of your best routine on beginning November 1. Cheer squads and fans can also view all the entries and vote for your favorite routine! Voting ends on December 8, so go, fight, WIN!

The two winning squads will be announced after December 17, 2010.

Nease NJROTC Honors our Veterans

Honoring our nation’s veteran’s should be an every day event. For the Nease NJROTC, participation in events help to express gratitude and show respect. On Oct 16th, Captain Robert Young accompanied 22 of the Nease NJROTC cadets to the Palenica “Dancing in the Streets” event. Six armed drill members performed an armed rife demonstration, while 18 cadets marched down the main street of Palencia to the fountain behind the Nease NJROTC color guard for the presentation of colors. This all occurred prior to the departure of the helicopter from HSL-44. This annual event supports the USO and honors the veterans and active duty military of the local area.  Nease NJROTC was there to help make the event special.

UNF to Host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!

The University of North Florida’s College of Education and Human Services will host Camp Composition: Florida Writes!, a writing camp to aid fourth through eighth graders to become better FCAT and lifelong writers, from 9 a.m. to noon, beginning Saturday, Jan. 22, and running through Saturday, Feb. 26, 2011, in the College of Education and Human Services, Building 57, Room 1100A on the UNF campus.
