St Johns Teacher Rallies

St Johns County Teachers will be participating in Teacher Rallies over the next week.
 

  • Tuesday 3/8 - Sign Waving 4:30 - 6:30 (312 and US1 and SR 16 at Publix) as well as at the School Board Meeting at 6:00.
  • Saturday - 3/12 Marching in the St. Patrick's Day Parade in St Augustine.
  • Monday 3/14 RALLY in the Plaza (Cordova and King St, St Augustine) with the 50th No More Group. Rally starts at 5:15!

EVENT DATE CHANGE: Flagler College Presents Lecture on Florida's 1861 Secession

Flagler College will welcome Woodrow Wilson Scholar Dwight Pitcaithley on Thursday, March 24, with a talk on "The Secession of Florida in 1861: Reflections After 150 Years."

Pitcaithley will speak at 7:30 p.m. in the Virginia Room of the Ringhaver Student Center, on the corner of King and Sevilla streets. The event is free and open to the public.

Allen D. Nease High School NJROTC Annual Mardi Gras Trip

Twenty-five cadets of the Nease High School NJROTC completed their annual Mardi Gras trip to Pensacola, FL, Metairie, LA, and Baton Rouge, LA Feb 11 – 15, 2010.

Community Collection Day at Pedro Menendez High School

St. Johns County Solid Waste Management will host a Community Collection Day on Saturday, February 26th, from 8:00 am until noon at Pedro Menendez High School, located at 600 State Road 206 West in St. Augustine. The event is limited to St. Johns County residents only.

Flagler College Welcomes Key Developer in Digital Media to Sixth Annual Communication Week

Flagler College will host Communication Week from March 7-10. This year's Communication Week will feature several returning speakers and alumni, while also hosting first-time speakers who will be talking to interested students about their careers in all areas of communication.

"Communication Week 2011 will bring together a diversified mix of public relations, journalism, broadcast, and cinema/media professionals from across the country," said Rosemary Tutt, APR, assistant professor of communication and faculty coordinator for Communication Week 2011.

Penguin Teeth Winns Murray Middle School Battle of the Bands for 2nd Year in a Row

Penguin Teeth won the  Murray Middle School’s Battle of the Bands for the second year in a row on Saturday, February 5, 2011. A total of six talented local youth bands competed in the second annual MMSBOB, held in the school’s auditorium as a fundraising event for the school’s Center for the Arts program.  Each band was required to have at least one middle school student member and was allowed to play two to three songs to stay within the competition’s time limit. 

Flagler Students Travel to Ecuador for Sustainability Project

Flagler College students will be taking an alternative break trip to Ecuador from April 24-May 6. The purpose of the trip, entitled "Sustainability in Ecuador '11," is to aid in building a sustainable garden that will produce food for the people in Ecuador and for Flagler students to learn about the Ecuadorian culture.
