St. Johns schools offering parents new tool to monitor academic progress | News

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- There is now a new tool available for  parents to check up on their child's academic progress at St. Johns County schools.

Parents will be able to use the Home Access Center (HAC).  The HAC is a web-based application.  Part of the the Student iNformation System eSchoolPlus, the portal is available now to registered parents and/or guardians.

Parents and students will be able to log into the portal to view a daily summary page of student information.  This includes the student's schedule, attendance, discipline information, class work, test scores, grades and course requests.

Students will also be able to view their own records.  The district hopes this will help keep students informed and actively participate in their progress.

Bruce Patrou, chief information and technology officer for the St. Johns County School District said, "The HAC portal enables parents the ability to receive timely information to support and monitor their children's academic progress.  This portal serves an excellent additional tool to communicate information, but should not be considered the only form of interaction with the school."

All St. Johns County pbulic schools with grades 3-12 will participate in the HAC program beginning this year.  The district said the only exceptions old be charter and DJJ schools.

Liberty Pines Elementary, Crookshank Elementary and Hickory Creek Elementary will serve as pilot programs for parents with children starting kindergarten.

If you had access to Parent Assistant in the past you can use that login and password to access the HAC portal.  Parental Assistant is no longer available.

If you are a parent/guardian who does not have access to the HAC portal, you must first visit your child's school to complete an email verification form and show a positive form of identification.  This may be done at the school's open house.  Once you have completed the email verification form at your child's school, you can register for an HAC account online.
