St. Augustine prepares for Romney visit | News
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- All eyes will be on the west lawn of Flagler College when Republican Presidential nominee Mitt Romney addresses supporters Monday morning.
"I'm so excited to be able to watch this," says Laura Stevenson Dumas, College Relations Director at Flagler College.
It was a ten hour set-up Sunday for Mitt Romney's visit and speech on Monday.
Flagler College was originally Hotel Ponce de Leon, Henry Flagler's first hotel, which opened up the state of Florida to visitors.
Stevenson Dumas believes its history makes Flagler College an ideal place for Romney to speak Monday. "Why not kick off your Florida bus tour in the first hotel Henry Flagler built and travel the rest of the state he had much to do with?"
Romney's crew prepped for one thousand people and organizers say they won't turn away anyone.
For Stevenson Dumas, she's thrilled for the chance to show off Flagler College as well as St. Augustine.
"It's a huge day for us."
