ST. AUGUSTINE BEACH, Fla. - St. Augustine Beach is now one step closer to finding a new police chief.
The St. Augustine Beach city commission voted to award the search to Executive Search Firm for $15,500 dollars.
The recruitment period will end in a month and the city hopes to have the new chief in place by January 1.
Former police chief Richard Hedges resigned in May after 10 officers filed complaints against him.
The interim chief is Sgt. Ralph Korea.
The city commission also agreed to pay $6,400 for a study on off-beach parking.
The study will look at the access points and design parking for those areas.
