ST. JOHNS, Fla. -- A man has been arrested after shooting a family member's vehicle several times.

Jeremy A. Manning, 32, has been charged with felony criminal mischief, using a firearm while under the influence of alcohol, and three counts of aggravated assault with a weapon, according to a release from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies reported to the 400 block of Chattan Way just after 5 p.m. after neighbors heard gun shots and called police.

Manning, who caused $1,000 in damage by shooting into his family member's vehicle, was trying to get into a house where his family had fled to and locked the door.

After being approached by deputies, Manning dropped his handgun without incident. He was taken into custody and booked into the St. Johns County Jail and remains there on bonds totaling $78,000.
