ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The body of a missing boater was found near the St. Augustine Inlet in the Salt Run area, just north of the Conch House Marina Resort.
St. Johns County Fire Rescue says two men were thrown from a motor boat: Ernest Young, 51, and Wesley Wallace, 65. Young's body was found around 10:45 p.m., according to the Florida Fish and Wildlife Commission.
Witnesses reported seeing the men involved in a boat crash around 8 Thursday evening.
Both men were reported to be treading water for some time before one man was able to swim to a small island in Salt Run.
There, that man was picked up by a passing vessel and taken to shore. He was uninjured and did not require medical attention.
Fire Rescue, St. Augustine Police, and St. Johns County Sheriff's Deputies began searching for the second man.
Shallow dives revealed a wallet floating on the water's surface.
