ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. - A Texas man is in custody in connection with a May 1 Wells Fargo bank robbery.
Michael Aaron Aldridge, 39, of Fort Worth, Texas, has been charged with armed robbery and grand theft of the Wells Fargo on County Road 210. Aldridge is also a suspect in numerous bank robberies throughout Florida, according to a news release from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office.
During the robbery, Aldridge allegedly entered the bank and handed the clerk a note indicating he was armed and demanded money. An undisclosed amount of cash was turned over to the suspect who then fled on foot, the release details.
According to the release, Aldridge is suspected in 18 bank robberies in Texas, seven in Florida and one in New Orleans, Louisiana.
Federal Bureau of Investigation investigators, along with authorities in Florida and Texas, are continuing to look into Aldridge for those other bank robberies.
Aldridge is currently being held in the St. Johns County Jail on no bond.
