St. Augustine girl eliminated from National Spelling Bee
OXON HILL, Md. -- A St. Johns County girl will not be competing for the title of the country's best speller tonight.
Grace Remmer, a home-schooled student from St. Augustine, made it to the semi-finals of Scripps National Spelling Bee.
But she misspelled the word "athanor" in round five.
That's a type of furnace.
Remmer was one of 50 spellers who made it to the semi-finals.
Six-year-old Lori Madison, the youngest speller ever in the competition was close, but did not make the cut.
