14 Cats Missing or Dead After St. Augustine Fire
News

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A homeowner is without his 14 cats after a fire at his home Monday morning.

According to Jeremy Robshaw with St. Johns Fire and Rescue, the fire broke out at a multi-story home in the 3400 of Red Cloud Trail in the Prairie Creek area just after 11:00 Monday morning.

Firefighters initially got a call about heavy smoke showing in that area and were able to put the fire out quickly once they got to the scene, Robshaw said.

There were 14 cats inside the home that Robshaw said either died in the fire or couldn't be found, but no one else was hurt.

The fire damaged one of the home's bedrooms, and Robshaw said the rest of the house had smoke damage.
