Thieves Steal Items from Unlocked Cars in St. Johns County
News

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Thieves have been targeting Whisper Ridge, a quiet community in St. Augustine.  Catherine Payne of the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office said there are dozens of recent cases of people stealing items out of unlocked cars in a number of residential areas.

People in the neighborhoods are hearing the news and making sure they protect their valuables.  Stephen Owens knows what to do, "You lock them."  He has three cars in his driveway, all the doors were locked.

Whisper Ridge resident Michael Mason has a message for people who don't lock their car doors.  "It's your own fault.  It's really your own fault if you leave your doors unlocked," Mason said.
