ST.AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Bus stops were full of students wearing red today in St. Johns County.

They were wearing red to show their support for Tyler McLaughlin, an 8th grader at Liberty Pines Academy who underwent open heart surgery Tuesday in Jacksonville.

Tyler, now 13, was born without a pulmonary artery and with a hole in his heart.

TMac is Tyler's nickname. His supporters posted dozens of pictures on Facebook and Twitter using #WearRedforTMac.

After more than eight hours of surgery, a family friends tells First Coast News his procedure was a success.

He is recovering at Wolfson Children's Hospital.
