ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- The reward for information in the hit-and-run that killed a 15-year-old girl has been increased to $6,000.

Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida has increased the reward to help find the driver of the vehicle that hit and killed Haley Smith on Nov. 16, according to a release from St. Johns County Sheriff's Office Media Relations Officer Kevin Kelshaw.

Smith was walking with two friends in the area of Kenton Morrison Road and Four Mile Road around 8:30 p.m. that night.

Teen killed in hit-and-run is third this year

The Sheriff's Office said it believes a pickup truck of an unknown color hit
the teenage girl and headed south on Holmes Avenue towards West King

A passenger side mirror of the suspect vehicle was found at the scene. Police say the mirror is an aftermarket reproduction that could fit a variety of small pickup trucks and SUVs.

Investigators are searching for a small pickup truck that should have damage or recent repairs to the front passenger side near the headlights, windshield and A-pillar, which supports the windshield. The passenger side mirror may also be missing or recently repaired.

Anyone with any information is asked to contact SJSO Deputy J.D. McGinnis (904) 209-1498, or you can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a $6,000 cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers of Northeast Florida at (888) 277-TIPS (8477).
