A Landrum Middle School sixth-grader and eighth-grader are home from school today after being suspended Friday for having marijuana in school.

St. Johns County Sheriff's Office spokesman Chuck Mulligan said a K-9 detected the marijuana.

"The dog smelled drugs, they searched and sure enough found the drugs," he said.

He said deputies filed charges but the children were not taken to a jail facility.
