Colbie Caillat ticket holders "Battle" to postpone show | Events
ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- Colbie Caillat fans found themselves in a not so “Bubbly” mood.
As of about 2:00p.m. Sunday afternoon, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre posted a message to their Facebook page letting concert ticket holders the show would go on as scheduled despite Beryl swirling off shore.
“Tonight's Colbie Caillat and Gavin DeGraw concert is still scheduled to begin at 6:20pm. We are in close and constant communication with the St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center, the St. Johns County Sheriff's Department and all are monitoring the current weather patterns. Our patrons' safety is of the utmost importance to us. Please check back here, staugamphitheatre.com and the local media for updates regarding tonight's show. Thank you.”
The St. Augustine Amphitheatre attempted to address concerned ticket holders by posting this response to their Facebook page, “"The 100 and 200 level sections are covered, the 300 level is uncovered. Please bring a poncho or rain jacket. Thanks."
First Coast News received several emails from unhappy ticket holders concerned about Beryl and poor driving conditions. “Did you know the Saint Augustine Amphitheater refuses to cancel the Colbie Caillat concert? I have tickets and I afraid to drive down there,” said Michael Albert.
By 6:00p.m. the St. Augustine Amphitheatre added yet another post letting ticket holders know the show would gone on as planned, despite comments and concerns posted to their Facebook page.
“Update: We are still currently scheduled with the event tonight. This is a decision collectively made by management, promoter and local officials (Police, Sheriffs, Fire Rescue and St. Johns County Emergency Operations Center). We are in constant communication with all parties and are all receiving safety/weather updates. Any decisions made are done so by following proper protocol. We have the highest level of concern for your safety and have and will continue to do everything possible to ensure the safety of the venue and our event. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Ryan Murphy, General Manager at email@example.com”
Tickets holders breathed a sigh of relief, sort of, when the St. Augustine Amphitheatre announced the concert was postponed a little before 7:00p.m. Sunday night, about 40 minutes after the scheduled start time.
“Due to worsening conditions of Tropical Storm Beryl tonight's concert at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre featuring Colbie Caillat and Gavin Degraw will not go on as scheduled. Amphitheatre management was advised at approximately 5:40 P.M. that the storm was gaining strength and had shifted to a more southerly course. Following the update, the storm was predicted to come ashore that would lead to worse conditions about midway through the program. Ticketholders should hold onto their tickets and check with the box office, our website and social media to check for further details on rescheduling.”
The St. Augustine Amphitheatre released a statement asking ticketholders to hold onto their tickets and, "check with box office at (904) 209-0367, the St. Augustine Amphitheatre website (www.staugamphitheatre.com) and their social media outlets on Tuesday for further details on rescheduling and the event’s status."
