ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Two Jacksonville women were arrested Tuesday, accused of using counterfeit bills at the St. Augustine Prime Outlets.

St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office Awarded “Solving Cold Cases with DNA” Grant

 

The St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office was recently awarded a “Solving Cold Cases with DNA” grant from the U.S. Department of Justice. The grant provides funding for DNA processing, comparison, and will also supply detectives and crime scene technicians with critical equipment and training as it pertains to DNA identification and collection.

Police Search for Man Following Attempted Abduction

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a teenage girl Saturday afternoon.

According to a statement from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the teenager told police that a truck approached her around 1 p.m. Saturday near Erickson Avenue at Flagler Estates. A man got out of the passenger side and asked her to get in.

When she refused, the man grabbed her wrist, but she was able to break free. The suspect got back into the vehicle and fled northbound on Erickson Avenue then east on Melanie Street.

Police are looking for a black male in his late
30s to early 40s. He is 5 feet 10 to 11 inches with a thin to medium build. The victim, police said, described him as scrawny with short black curly hair, wearing a dark blue windbreaker with a light blue collar.

The truck was a black, newer, full-size model with tinted windows and two dark gray roll bars. Its rearview mirrors have black backs.

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- A child's mother and stepfather are in jail after an abuse investigation that began when the child's grandfather became concerned.

The charging affidavit from the State Attorney's Office lists the details of the investigation into 21-year-old Elanna Joy Glenn and her husband, 50-year-old Terry Paul Glenn.

The investigation began on Sept. 25 when the child's relatives came to pick him up for a trip and noticed he had burn marks on his body.

Police went to investigate, and reported that Elanna Glenn became "defensive and agitated" to the point she had to be handcuffed.

"I don't have to ****ing tell you anything," the affidavit quotes her as saying before she said her son is "a bad child, he spits in my face, he calls me b****, and drives me crazy."

She also reportedly said, "If I wanted to kill him I already would have," and described herself as a good mother who would never hurt her child.

Sheriff Seeks Burglar in Boots

According to a press release from the St Johns County Sheriff's office, deputies are seeking a male suspect in connection with a string of burglaries.

The burglaries occurred early in the morning of October 7 when five cars in the Hideaway Lake subdivision were burglarized. According to the release the suspect entered unlocked vehicles and removed items of value as well as a knife. In addition to breaking into cars, the suspect reportedly entered one victim's home, but was scared off when the victim spotted him. The victim described the suspect as a black male, unknown age, around 5’9” to 5’10” tall with a medium build. If you know anything that can help find the suspect, you can remain anonymous and possibly be eligible for a cash reward by calling Crime Stoppers at 1-(888) 277-TIPS (8477).
