A St. Augustine man has racked up six charges in connection with the theft of a car, hitting an off-duty office and leaving the scene.

According to a St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office report, 37-year-old Robert Thomas Spicer allegedly stole his stepfather’s pick-up truck, though Spicer does not have a valid driver’s license.

According to the report, a call went out to SJSO deputies after an off-duty officer was involved in a hit-and-run with the vehicle Spicer was driving. A responding deputy claims Spicer attempted to, “ram his vehicle,” while being approached.

Spicer is accused of ignoring deputy lights and sirens, then continuing into the driveway of a home. Spicer was still uncooperative with deputies once out of the vehicle and refused to comply with deputies, the report said.

Spicer is charged with vehicle theft, resisting an officer, hit and run, aggravated assault on an officer, fleeing and eluding police and moving traffic violation. Spicer is currently being held in the St Johns County jail on $19,500 bond.
