Traffic Death Leads to Arrest

A 27-year old St. Augustine Beach man was arrested today on a warrant stemming from the traffic death of man and woman in April.

According to a news release from St. Johns Sheriff Office spokesperson Kevin Kelshaw, the suspect is identified as 27-year-old Carlos Antonio Bueso.

Bueso was found by the U.S. Marshal’s Regional Fugitive Task Force at a home in the 3600 block of A1A South this afternoon. Bueso was charged with two counts of DUI manslaughter and one count of driving with no license resulting in a death.

The arrest is the result of a six-month investigation into a single vehicle crash that occurred April 17 on C.R. 13 South, near Cowpen Branch Road.

The news release said at the time, Bueso was allegedly driving a 2006 Nissan Altima northbound on C.R. 13 S. when he ran off the road and struck a tree. Bueso and his two passengers, John Michael Currier, 26, and Sharon M. Pallet, 40, left a party together and were returning home when the crash occurred. Neither was wearing a seatbelt, and both were ejected from the vehicle and pronounced dead at the scene.

Toxicology tests performed following the crash allegedly revealed that Bueso had a blood alcohol level of 0.249, three times the legal limit to drive, along with cannabis in his system. Bueso also did not have a valid driver’s license at the time of the crash.
