Crime

ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- A jury took less than two hours to determine that a 38-year-old man is guilty of sex offenses including impregnating his 13-year-old stepdaughter.

According to State Attorney's Office spokesperson Klare Ly, Douglas Wayne Hall was living with the victim's mother from 1999 to 2009 and was acting as the victim's stepfather at the time.

The charges against Hall are detailed in a document from State Attorney R.J. Larizza.

Both charges accuse him of unlawful sexual activity with a child 12 or older but under 18, but are separated by the date range and the severity of the accusation.

The first charge is for the time frame from Jan. to August, 2007, and the second is from August 2007 to August 2009.

It is during the second time frame that the victim became pregnant, which, according to the warrant affidavit, was February or March 2008.

The victim miscarried the child.

Also in the warrant affidavit is a statement from the victim, who said she didn't want to have sexual intercourse with Hall, but she "did not know how to stop it."

The two counts of which the jury found Hall guilty are first degree felonies, and he could be sentenced anywhere from 17 to 60 years in prison.

Sentencing has been set for Dec. 15th.
