ST. JOHNS COUNTY, Fla. -- Police are investigating an attempted abduction of a teenage girl Saturday afternoon.

According to a statement from the St. Johns County Sheriff's Office, the teenager told police that a truck approached her around 1 p.m. Saturday near Erickson Avenue at Flagler Estates. A man got out of the passenger side and asked her to get in.

When she refused, the man grabbed her wrist, but she was able to break free. The suspect got back into the vehicle and fled northbound on Erickson Avenue then east on Melanie Street.

Police are looking for a black male in his late
30s to early 40s. He is 5 feet 10 to 11 inches with a thin to medium build. The victim, police said, described him as scrawny with short black curly hair, wearing a dark blue windbreaker with a light blue collar.

The truck was a black, newer, full-size model with tinted windows and two dark gray roll bars. Its rearview mirrors have black backs.
