North Florida Cystic Fibrosis Foundation Welcomes New Team Members

 

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF) of North Florida announces three new team members have joined the organization. Brett Hipsley has been named development director and will manage the Great Strides brand, the foundation’s largest national event, for the North Florida office. He will be responsible for nine of the 13 annual Great Strides that take place from Jacksonville to Pensacola. Mona Hover will serve as development manager and is responsible for overseeing the production of major fundraising events including Cycle for Life, The Oldest City Red Trout Celebrity Classic fishing tournament and Gainesville Tailgate for a Cure. Charlotte Cudd has joined the team as event specialist and will assist in the production of the 24 North Florida CFF events held annually.

Habitat for Humanity and the St. Johns Housing Partnership are pleased to announce a successful start to the Lift up Lincolnville effort.

Starting in November of last year, volunteers painted and landscaped homes for citizens in need residing in the historic Lincolnville district. This beautification project complements preparations for the 450th Celebration of the founding of St. Augustine.

As you are headed into St. Augustine, Florida, from Jacksonville, Florida, on A1A south, be sure to stop at the Vilano Beach pier.  If you arrive in time for lunch, there are several cafes as well as a restaurant on the Intercoastal waterway that sits next to the bridge.  Additionally, if you wish to picnic, there is a brand-new Publix grocery store within 1000 feet of the pier.

First Annual Give Kids A Smile Day

As part of the American Dental Association’s Give Kids A Smile Day (GKAS), St. Augustine area Pediatric Dentist Dr.Matthew McLellan leads a group of volunteer dental professionals to provide a day of free care to underserved children. Each year, the Give Kids A Smile (GKAS) program successfully treats more than half a million kids at approximately 2,000 locations nationwide.

Saint Augustine Teen In Need of Life-Saving Transplant

 

With the cost of a transplant often exceeding $500,000, many transplant families are unable to shoulder the financial burden of such a procedure.  The Children’s Organ Transplant Association (COTA) is a national charity dedicated to organizing and guiding communities in raising funds for transplant-needy patients.  In St. Augustine, volunteers are raising funds for transplant patients like local teen, Alex Fast.
