Brooks Rehabilitation Adds Assisted Living and Memory Care Services to its Bartram Campus Plan

Brooks Rehabilitation is dedicated to providing various options to meet the unique needs of their patients and the community, empowering people to achieve their highest level of recovery and independence. With that goal in mind, Brooks Rehabilitation has begun infrastructure development on its Bartram campus located on I-95 and Bartram Park Boulevard in southern Duval County.   The campus will be designed as a destination for those needing rehabilitation and other services focused on the aging adult. The first phase of the project, which will break ground in early 2012, will include a three-story, 61-unit assisted living facility (ALF), an 18-unit memory care facility and a 100-bed skilled nursing facility (SNF) which will expand Brooks Rehabilitation’s continuum of care.

Florida Legislators Want to Reform Personal Injury Protection Insurance

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. -- If you drive a car in Florida you are required to have personal injury protection, PIP, this mandatory insurance has been required since 1972.

But now there's a move to change it. The state's insurance commissioner says the no fault insurance is riddled with fraud and bogus claims.

"It's like whack a mole. You close it down one place and it pops up somewhere else. They're very proficient at finding those weaknesses."

Kevin McCarthy said the system is costing Floridians hundreds of millions of dollars on their car insurance premiums. The Chief Financial Officer Jeff Atwater agrees and says it's time to fix it or flush it.

"You can't keep throwing consumers to the wolves"

Atwater said the frequency of crashes is down in Florida, but PIP payments are up 70 percent in just the last two years. Change is necessary.

"It is a very bad thing for consumers"

McDonald's is Coming to WGV

Rumors have been swirling for months, "McDonald's is coming to World Golf Village."

Earlier in the week, the only proof we had of the rumored McDonald's was the above photograph of a construction area next to CVS at The Shoppes at Murabella.

After making a few calls, we have confirmation, a McDonald's is coming to Murabella. The New McDonald's will bring between 50 and 55 jobs to the area. The restaurant is slated to open October 27, 2011. Construction will be complete one week prior to opening. A grand opening celebration will occur several weeks after McDonald's opens.

We will update this story as we recieve more information.

According to Survey, Number of Workers Living Paycheck to Paycheck at Pre-Recession Levels

As the U.S. keeps a close eye on the stock market; CareerBuilder’s survey shows the financial situation for some households is improving. Forty-two percent of workers say they usually or always live paycheck to paycheck, an improvement from 43 percent in 2010 and in line with levels seen back in 2007. The number of workers who have missed a bill payment has decreased year-over-year; one-in-five (20 percent) say they have missed payments on bills in the last year, slightly improved from 22 percent at this time last year. This is according to a new nationwide survey of more than 5,200 workers by CareerBuilder that was conducted from May 18 to June 3, 2011.
