Teddy Bear Tuesday

On November 16, LongHorn Steak House, the Justice Coalition and Local Law Enforcement will team up for Teddy Bear Tuesday. The goal of Teddy Bear Tuesday is to put new Teddy Bears in the cars of every Police Officer so that when they encounter child victims a Teddy Bear will be given to comfort the child. Your gift of a New Teddy Bear can be taken to any of the nine LongHorn Steakhouse restaurants including Orange Park and St. Augustine locations.

Free Shredding Event, Dec. 2nd

To celebrate our one year anniversary, we're co-sponsoring a free community shredding event! This event, co-sponsored by Shredding Source, will be held in the parking lot of Pack 'n Post Express on SR 16, Dec. 2, 1 - 3:00pm.  It is open to the entire community.

With a goal of searching worldwide for the next great idea for environmentally preferable office products, Staples is giving Jacksonville-area college students an opportunity to compete for a $25,000 grand prize if they submit a 1,000 word description of their idea by Dec. 23, 2010.

$6,000 Will Fund Purchase of New Interactive Software to Train and Test Firefighters

Like many fire departments across the county, St. Johns County Fire Rescue sometimes struggles to update or purchase necessary equipment.  St. Johns planned on purchasing a more effective training software in 2010, however, due to slow economic times they were forced to make budget cuts and were unable to purchase the software on their own.

Aon Risk Services and Fireman’s Fund Insurance Company are partnering to present St. Johns County Fire Rescue with $6,000 to help fund the purchase of new interactive firefighter training and testing software.

FPL to Unveil Solar Education Station at Pedro Menendez High School

Continuing its commitment to the future of renewable energy, FPL together with St. Johns County School District officials, will unveil a solar array and learning center at Pedro Menendez High School in St. Augustine, Fla, on Wednesday, Nov. 10 at 10 a.m.
