Nine dancers, one magician, and one storyteller recently performed a variety show on Friday, April 22, 2011 at River House on Marine Street in St. Augustine.   The St. Augustine Community Ballet (SACB), under the artistic direction of Luis Abella, delighted the audience with skill, professionalism, and enthusiasm. 

Consul General of France Visits St. Augustine

On Monday, April 18th, The First America Foundation, Inc. Board of Directors welcome the Consul General de France à Miami, Gaël de Maisonneuve, to discuss the integration of French history into the three-year Commemoration of St. Augustine. The public is welcome to attend this meeting, which will be held at the Casa Monica Hotel at 2:00 p.m.

An Evening in the Hemingway Tradition: Florida Heritage Book Festival

The Florida Heritage Book Festival will toast legendary author Ernest Hemingway at a gala celebration, “A Hemingway Night,” on Saturday, May 21, 5:30 PM – 7:30 PM on the grounds of historic Flagler College at the stately Markland House, 102 King Street, St. Augustine.

The evening will feature complimentary mojito tasting and voting for the best cocktails prepared by spirited competitors Mojitos Bar at Habana Village Café, Cobalt Lounge at Casa Monica Hotel and Avilés Lounge at Hilton Historic Bayfront.

Imagine falling through a rabbit hole…  What would you find?  We hope you will come see “Alice and Wonderland” and find out!  The Bartram Trail High School auditorium in St John’s County has been transformed into the magical world of Lewis Carroll with all the characters you know and love and few other surprises. With a cast and crew of over 70 students, this show will be spectacular!

Please join Keepers of the Coast as we welcome the return of our nesting sea turtles to the beaches of North east Florida. The 5th annual festival is being held at the St. Johns County Fishing Pier Pavilion in St. Augustine Beach, Florida today April 16, 2011 from 12:00 pm to 5:00 pm.  

Historic Weapons Training Course to be offered at Castillo de San Marcos NM

The Castillo de San Marcos and Fort Matanzas National Monuments need volunteer gunners! The National Park Service invites you to attend the School of 18th Century Artillery at the Castillo de San Marcos National Monument on Saturday, April 16th and Sunday April 17, 2011.  This course provides the training necessary for certification in firing cannons for the public at the Castillo and Fort Matanzas National Monuments. These cannon demonstrations are presented every weekend with the help of a large and vital volunteer force.

April Writers Group Meeting, April 16th

On Saturday, April 16, 2011, at 10:15 a.m., in the Main Library located at 1960 N. Ponce de Leon Blvd. St. Augustine, the Florida Writers-Ancient City Chapter will welcome author and photographer Jim Kern.

Two years ago Jim published a book entitled, "The Wildlife Art & Adventures of Jim Kern Photographer." He's currently completing the companion book, "Trail Reflections, 50 Years of Hiking and Backpacking."
