Fall Festivities & Halloween Happenings

Fall is in full swing and Halloween and Thanksgiving are both right around the corner. All across the First Coast Halloween haunting, trick or treat attractions, and harvest themed fall festivals are geared up for the festivities.

If you are looking for a way to get out and enjoy the fall weather and festivities there is something here for everyone. With so many Halloween Events and Fall Festivals happening across the First Coast this weekend and through the end of October, there are too many to keep up with and list. This is a run down of a few of the many events across the area.

There are plenty of events and fun activities for the whole family in many locations. From trick-or-treating, to kids events and petting zoos, haunted houses and spooky mazes, to traditional pumpkin patch and hay ride fun, there is plenty of fun fall activities for all to enjoy.

The St. Johns County Cultural Events Division is proud to announce that legendary crooner Tony Bennett will appear at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre on Tuesday, March 20, 2012, in support of his recent #1 album, Duets II.

Call for ROWITA Lifetime Achievement Award Nominations

 

The St. Johns Cultural Council is seeking nominations for the fourth annual ROWITA Awards (Recognizing Outstanding Women in the Arts.)

The Cultural Council is asking members of the community to submit nominations of women who have made significant contributions to the arts (and to the community) in St. Johns County.

The Postal Service is asking Americans for suggestions on who should be the first living person to be honored on a U.S. postage stamp. Until now, a person has to have been dead for five years before appearing on a stamp. The post office has been facing severe financial problems, and a boost in stamp collecting would mean additional revenue.

Pirate Museum Voted Best Local Attraction by Community

 

The results are in! The St. Augustine Pirate & Treasure Museum was voted Best Local Attraction by the community in the St. Augustine Record’s 2011 Best of St. Augustine contest after its first year in the running and less than a year open.

“We’re absolutely thrilled that local residents and Record readers, who have visited the museum, think so highly of their pirate experience with us,” said executive director Cindy Stavely.
