Airshow Season Has St. Augustine Looking Up

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla. -- It's a bird.  It's a plane.  It's pilots practicing for airshow season.

According to the St. Augustine Airport Authority, planes may be seen doing some strange manuevers overhead as pilots get ready for airshows and get recertified.

Aerobatic pilots will be in the air frequently between now and April, though airport officials said that will only be during daylight and when conditions are favorable.

"This time of the year brings some of the best flying weather in the country and with it a sampling of the world's best aerobatic flying talent to the area," said Airport Authority Chairman, Kelly Berrera in a statement to First Coast News.

The first performance at the airport this year will be in February and will feature "The Heavy Metal Jet Team."
